Passion from the Ashes
Passion from the Ashes* is my interpretation of the mythical bird, the phoenix. The phoenix, a symbol of rebirth and transformation, burns “herself” when ready and is reborn of “her” own ashes. We burn our fear and pain and from the ashes of our past we can choose to resurrect ourselves, as does the phoenix. In my painting the flames transform themselves into flowers, birthing a garden of magical beauty. Silver and blue streams of courage swirl upward from the fire. I intend this image as a reminder of mankind’s infinite capacity to transcend the many symbolic “deaths” and losses which are faced within a lifetime. Suffering is transformed through creativity and passion. The frame and gold-leaf work have been custom-created by the artist to complement the image.
